THE DALLES CENTER

The Dalles Head Start has been an established preschool and home visiting agency since 1967.  We provide and coordinate community services for children and families ranging from prenatal to five years of age.    We serve breakfast, lunch, or snacks to the students following the USDA guidelines for healthy meals.  In class, we use Creative Curriculum to support children’s development.  Services enhance cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development and promote family strengths. Our regular classroom activities are supplemented by field trips and special visitors to the classroom.  Families receive home visits from their child’s teacher to work together in supporting learning and to help connect families to local community resources as needed.  We provide health screenings and support families in obtaining medical and dental care.
