Oregon Preschool Promise (PSP) is a state-funded, high-quality preschool system that leverages high-quality, local and culturally-relevant early child care and education programs. MCCC is excited to introduce the first Preschool Promise centers at Hood River County School Districts May Street, Westside, and Cascade Locks Elementary Schools and is encouraging new enrollment.
Children ages 3 – 5 who live at or below 200% of the poverty level are eligible for the Preschool Promise program. Children in foster care, homeless children and children from families receiving public assistance (TANF or SSI) are eligible regardless of income.
MCCC offers a school day option 5 days a week with a minimum of 6 hours per day.
The number of classes offered and times can be specific to each MCCC center, so please find the location closest to you and contact for details. SEE LOCATIONS
Free transportation is also available, at designated sites, to all enrolled MCCC children.
By incorporating a mixed delivery approach which recognizes that high quality early learning experiences can take place in a wide variety of settings, Preschool Promise provides opportunities for families to access and choose the preschool setting which best meets their needs.
All MCCC programs engage parents in their children’s learning and help them in making progress toward their educational, literacy and employment goals. Significant emphasis is placed on the involvement of parents in the administration of local Head Start programs. Learn how you can actively participate in program operations through the Parent Policy Council.
All families enrolled in an MCCC early-education program, also receive access to our Family Support Services. These services include nutritious meals, dental screenings, vision/hearing screenings, prenatal support, mental health services and limited transportation services–all important to a child’s intellectual and physical growth.
