THE GORGE — Books for Kids Columbia Gorge recently awarded 13 book grants totaling $19,597 to 19 literacy programs across the Gorge.
The funds will bring new, quality age-appropriate books to more than 16,000 children, said a Books for Kids press release.
Awards went to Mid-Columbia Children’s Council (Klickitat, Skamania, Hood River and Wasco counties), Lyle Schools Dallesport Elementary Kindergarten (Klickitat County), A List Adventures at Hulan L Whitson Elementary (Klickitat County), Chenowith and Dry Hollow elementary schools (Wasco County), Oregon Child Development Coalition (Hood River and Wasco counties), The Next Door Inc. Family Services and The Klare House (Hood River County) and May Street Elementary School’s English Language Development program (Hood River County).
